Why We Exist

Home improvement is one of the most complained-about sectors. Projects run over budget, trades disappear mid-job, or homeowners refuse to pay for completed work. These problems destroy trust between consumers and the skilled professionals they rely on. We founded Trusted Payments to change this story.

Our Team

Our team previously built Resolver (helping consumers save over £4 billion) and JamDoughnut (a cashback app saving consumers millions for free). Through this work, they discovered that home improvement consistently topped complaint lists — not due to poor workmanship, but from breakdowns in trust and communication.

How do I create an account?

Simply download our mobile app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, click 'Sign Up,' and provide your email address, create a secure password. The process takes seconds. You can then create a project and invite a trade to the project.

How do you ensure payments are secure?

Projects are tracked in milestones. Payments between homeowner and trade are processed by Stripe, an FCA-authorised payment processor.

Retention is held by the Ombudsman in an independent trust account. Trusted Payments has no access to, and no control over, client funds at any point.

What payment methods can I use?

Homeowners can pay via debit card, credit card or Open Banking. All payments are processed by Stripe, an FCA-authorised payment processor. Funds flow directly between homeowner and trade through Stripe's payment platform.

Stripe transaction fees are passed through to the trade at cost. Trusted Payments does not mark up or earn revenue from payment processing.

Is there a warranty?

We provide a 1 year insurance backed warranty on projects via Trusted Payments. This ensures that if there is an issue you can raise your case with the Ombudsman and the trade then has time to put it right. If the trade does not put this right the warranty will provide the money to resolve your issue.

How do I ensure the trade is reliable?

Trusted Payments only works with organisations that vet trade in their scheme. This ensures the trades are competent and capable. In addition, we then provide the warranty on the works.

  3. Warranties are underwritten by a Lloyds of London insurer, which is FCA-authorised. Trusted Payments is not the insurer and does not carry insurance risk.
  4. Independent dispute resolution is provided by the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman.
